This IDC study (a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J12120181) examines the lessons learned from the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011 and presents the top 10 predictions for the Japan healthcare-related IT market in 2012 with utilizations trend of the third IT platform (typified by cloud, mobility, social media, and Big Data).Due to the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake, the demand for the implementation of joint medical cooperation networks in areas badly hit by the earthquake is increasing. "Vendors providing regional medical cooperation network solutions need to look at the situation from the patient's and/or family's standpoint, which are joint stakeholders in institutions/businesses. They should also consider third IT platform technologies and provide parts/packages that immediately meet individual needs (acute phase medical treatment, chronic phase medical treatment, etc.)," says Eiji Sasahara, research manager, IT Spending, IDC Japan.
